Public Speaking Club

This summer, Creative Classroom will be running another session of our FREE public speaking club and workshop series for students entering grades 4-8. The club will run from July 21 to August 16. Like last year, sections will be held online over Zoom. Prior public speaking experience is not required to participate, and the club is completely free. Returning students are welcome to participate again as well. 

As before, the club will be practice-based, and sessions will provide students with opportunities to improve their public speaking skills through engaging activities, games, readings, and presentations. Experienced high-school mentors will also be at sessions to present lectures, provide feedback, and guide students.

We will offer two sections, one on Sundays (Section A) and the other on Tuesdays (Section B). Each section will meet once a week for 2 hours from 7-9 PM EST, and both sections will cover various topics ranging from vocal expression to body language.

Students can also work one-on-one with and receive extra help from a mentor during our office hour sessions every Thursday from 7-8 PM EST. Additionally, we will hold a presentation day every Friday from 7-8 PM EST (time will vary depending on the number of presenters) for students to practice their speaking and reading skills and receive written feedback from experienced high school public speakers and debaters. The session will conclude with a final presentation showcase, where students will present a reading of their choice and show off what they've learned. Students can come to as many sections and presentations as they would like, and parents are welcome to attend presentations as well. 

We strongly encourage attendance, and parents are welcome to watch and support presentations.
